 (meanwhile, an update in my Quest To Find Good F/F Novels, Preferably Sci-Fi/Fantasy)

I’ve noticed a trend where a lot of f/f, both fanfiction and published, is sort of… cutesy? Or bland? A lot of it is very dreamlike and quirky and fairytale inspired, and I love those stories, but I wish there was some more variety in f/f. I want to read about happy lesbians owning a coffee shop AND hardened warrior enemies-to-lovers having dirty sex.

I’m concerned that the predominating image of f/f is the equivalent of a tumblr mood board: very pastel, ultra-feminine, mostly white, mostly thin, mostly cis, lots of flowers and glitter and soft lighting. And as I said before, I love pastel!f/f! I’m all about pretty aesthetics! But I’d love to also read f/f with more, for a lack of a better word, grit.

If anyone has recommendations for f/f novels with a bit of a darker edge, HIT ME UP.
